7 Rules of Life

Today, as I scrolled through my news feed on Facebook, I found a photo that a friend of mine had posted with the seven rules of life. I have seen blogs on here about some of these rules, but I think that they all pertain to our journeys of healing. Here they are:

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

As I have thought about what I'm thankful for, I have also thought a lot about my wishes for my life. Thanksgiving is a holiday in which we remind ourselves what we're thankful for. Black Friday is when people create mob scenes at four o'clock in the morning to get stuff for lower prices (which I don't understand: I'd much rather be sleeping).

Throughout my healing process, I have thought a lot about relationships. In a relationship with another person, I think that people must be honest with each other.

Our abusers were not honest with us. They forced us to reveal our innermost emotions when we did not want to. As a result, I have been afraid to become close with people other than friends that I had when I first came out about the abuse. I have moved past a lot of my emotional strain, but I am at the point where I need to be more comfortable with myself.
