Please Vote for a Friend Stacey Loved

Stacey's favorite cause, Canine Helper's Allow More Possibilities Champs--the wonderful prison program that teaches inmates to train service dogs- lost a dear friend, Ruth. She passed away from breast cancer.

Now one of Ruth's puppies is in the Bissell MVP Pet Photo Contest. Please vote for Foo Foo in memory of the late Ruth Ann Grantham, a committed puppy raiser. Find the link on the next page--the contest ends tonight!

Teen Simply Wants Justice

A sexually abusive uncle runs free in Missouri while a 15-year-old seeks justice. See her story, below.

Thanks to this teen's mom, Kimberly Elliott, for her tireless work. Write to the office of Governor Jay Nixon to voice your opinion.

We're Really Here

Stacey is here in New Jersey with me this week. I'm very lucky to have her company. She is working hard on her future plans. Stay tuned. Stacey will be back at Healing Sisters tomorrow.

We are so thrilled to read the notes you've sent, and we'll write back soon. In the meantime, I hope you're getting a taste of the beautiful spring weather we had here on a day trip to New York City. Central Park was breathtaking.

Hey Strangers: Thanks for the Car Ride Yesterday

I have been traveling over the last two days with Stacey. She'll be back on this blog soon. (Stacey! Stacey! Come back!)

She and I find all kinds of ways to work together even though she lives in Missouri, and I'm in New Jersey. Usually, we do most of our business via text. We also call and email.

Of course, my favorite way to work is in person. We just get things done when we put our heads together.

So I landed at the airport, and it was raining buckets. No, not buckets--it was raining Olympic sized swimming books. I had to take off my shoes because my green patent leather loafers slip and slide when it rains--I know from past experience.

Bristol Palin Tells Teens 'Don't Have Sex'

What do you think about Bristol Palin speaking out about teenage pregnancy?

She's the 18-year-old single teen mother and daughter of Alaska's governor, Sarah Palin. I'm sure you've seen these two in the news.

I just wonder what you think about Bristol promoting abstinence so heavily and so publicly earlier today, The National Day to End Teen Pregnancy.

I am kind of blown away by it. She was taught teen abstinence, and it obviously didn't help her. Why does she think telling teens not to have sex is the best way to keep them from doing it?

I just don't know.

Healing Sisters Says Hello

My name is Kristen, and I won't usually be writing in this area. This is Stacey's area. But at times, I'll be a guest blogger.

I just want to say Welcome to the World, HealingSisters.org. You are officially born. Just like a real baby, this website will require late nights, lots of coddling and every ounce of our attention.

All we need is practice. We'll learn how to make this website an amazing resource for all sexual abuse survivors and for people, like me, who want to offer our unconditional support and passion for this cause.
