Don't Be Afraid on Happy Halloween
This is my first Halloween home in over 18 years, and I am enjoying it to the hilt!
I picked out my first pumpkin, bought a carving kit, carved it, and roasted the seeds. It was great!!! The pumpkin is rotted now, so I bought another one.
I am going to dress up in a poodle skirt and dance at a friend's house. I don't know how to dance, but I suppose that is part of the fun. I do know how to do the twist and the swim, so I guess the poodle skirt is appropriate.
On a serious note, Halloween night is a time for fake monsters and horrors, but we have seen plenty of real ones. We each have monsters, demons, and horrors in our past that we confront every day.
It is hard for us to be able to let go and enjoy "harmless fear." Harmless fear is being afraid at a haunted house, the horror of a scary ghost story, and the sharp intake of breath at seeing a scary mask. We felt all of this at one time; we have experienced harmless fear in the past. We can feel it again. For just one night, let go. Know that the monsters are not real and laugh at the absuridty of it all.
I want to wish all of you a very Happy Halloween and hope we can all celebrate it in style.

I've always loved Halloween
I put up my Halloween decorations on the Autumnal Equinox. I haven't dressed up myself for several years now. I remember one year, I dressed up like a witch, complete with a broom and answered the door for trick or treaters. Kids aren't expecting that so it was fun to see their reaction.
I'm in tears... I needed
I'm in tears... I needed that tonight, Stacey: thanks so much.
Poodle skirts
Hi there, That's just what i did last night. The local car club had a cruise-in 50's night and the girls were all in poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle shoes. So much fun except that there were no real 50's style clothes for the guys back then. A white t-shirt with your cigs rolled up in your sleeve, cuffs in your jeans and a leather jacket. So my '55 Chevy and i went "Fonzie" style.
Maybe its time
I think it is time for you to once again break out the old witch and let her fly. What have you got to lose? We need to always keep that childish spirit and nothing really does it like dressing up and having a nice time.
